The most famous adult magazine in the world will be making its way to Apple's iPad.

The founder and face of Playboy, Hugh Hefner, tweeted recently that Playboy will be coming to the iPad. Big news! Playboy -- both old & new -- will be available on iPad beginning in March, Hefner said.

A spokesperson for Playboy clarified the situation in an email. According to vice president of public relations, Theresa Hennessey, Playboy will be releasing a web-based subscription service with Bondi Digital Publishing that will give users access to every issue of Playboy. It will be compatible with and utilize iPad functions, but won't be available for purchase in the App Store.

On top of that, Playboy will be creating a non-nude version of a Playboy-branded iPad app in the coming months, one that will adhere to Apple's policies.

Currently, it is against Apple's bylaws to publish an app with nudity. Apple CEO Steve Jobs in the past mentioned nudity would never be available on Apple's devices. The $0.99 cent Playboy app for the iPhone doesn't feature any full frontal nudity, thus making it okay by Apple.

Back in April, Jobs said this at an event, You know, there's a porn store for Android. You can download nothing but porn. You can download porn, your kids can download porn. That's a place we don't want to go, so we're not going to go there.

Recently, Hefner bought out the magazine from publisher Playboy Enterprises. The move will allow Hefner to take the company private, which he says will give the magazine flexibility to return Playboy to its unique position and further expand its business around the world.

Apple could not be reached for further comment.
