Sony is in a generous mood considering the massive success of the PlayStation 4 in 2015. The PS4 is the fastest-selling console in history, having sold more than 30 million units since its 2013 launch. Just in time for Christmas, Sony announced its annual PlayStation Store holiday sale Wednesday. For four weeks, dozens of games and movies are on sale in North America, but Europe has the best deals of all.
During the first week of the PlayStation Store holiday sale, more than 30 PS4, 19 PS3 games and 21 PS Vita games are on sale. The deals include "Journey" discounted to $11.99 ($8.99 for PS Plus subscribers) for the PS4 and PS3. For Telltale fans, "Game of Thrones: Game of Thrones – Season Pass" is on sale for $12.50 for all users and $6.25 for PlayStation Plus users.
"God of War III: Remastered" is down to $31.99 and $23.99 for PS Plus subscribers. "Tales from the Borderlands: Tales from the Borderlands – Season Pass" is down to $7.50 and $3.75 for PS Plus. The Telltale Games Collection, which includes Seasons 1 and 2 of "The Walking Dead," "The Wolf Among Us," "Tales from the Borderlands: Episode 1" and "Game of Thrones: Episode 1," is $55 and $27.50 for PS Plus.
"Grand Theft Auto V" is getting a decent discount to $40.19 and $35.99 for PlayStation Plus. If you're planning to spend lots of time with "GTA Online," the "Grand Theft Auto V and Great White Shark Cash Card" bundle is down to $47.99 and $39.99 for PS Plus. The Great White Shark Cash Card gives players $1.25 million in-game GTA dollars.
Movies on sale include "The Departed," "John Wick," "Snakes on a Plane" and "The Hangover III."
While the PlayStation Store holiday sale is nice, Europe has the best reason to celebrate. There are no discounted games, but the PlayStation Store is offering a buy one, get one free deal, and the list of available games is impressive. "Until Dawn," "The Last of Us: Remastered," "The Order: 1886," and "Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor - Legion Edition" are among the eligible titles.
