Pokémon Go Easter festivities are about to begin, and Niantic has used the game’s official blog to detail the upgrades for the next few days. Get ready, because the Pokémon Go Eggstravaganza is about to start.

Here’s a list of the event’s key details

  • It runs April 13 - 20 at 4 p.m. EDT
  • A “greater variety” of Pokémon will now hatch from all 2-kilometer eggs
  • Candy output increase for each hatch
  • Double XP and 4x bonus with a Lucky Egg
  • Lucky Eggs sold at 50 percent discount

Like most Pokémon Go events, this one intentionally leaves some discovery up to trainers. Because the Eggstravaganza has yet to start, we don’t quite know what Niantic means when it teases a “greater variety” of hatchable monsters. In other words, the event could make most of the game’s Pokémon viable, or it could restrict the benefit to a much smaller pool like Gen 2 starters.

The official version of the Easter event is a bit smaller than the theories concocted by fans over the last week or so, but it still offers trainers a cool opportunity for a reasonable amount of time. Because this is Niantic we’re dealing with, it’s also possible there may be a few surprises in store too. We’re just speculating, but this would be a pretty great occasion to introduce a shiny Exeggcute and Exeggutor to the game.
