McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE:MCD) Happy Meals have been getting a jump start as of late with some high profile partnerships such as the current line of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” film toys included with each child friendly meal.

On Sunday, Nintendo Co., Ltd’s (OTCMKTS:NTDOY) Pokémon franchise was revealed as the McDonald’s partner for the next set of happy meal toys. According to McDonald’s Happy Meal website, the next set of Happy Meal toys are expected to be released as part of a promotion for “Pokémon X and Y,” including twelve toys based off several Pokémon characters such as Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo, Venusaur and more.

In addition to the Pokémon toy included in each Happy Meal, it appears that the meals will also include a card from the Pokémon Trading Card Game and access to a feature which McDonald’s calls “McPlay Power,” a mobile app which lets users “scan” Happy Meal toys to gain access to extra content such as mini games.

“McPlay Power” was first introduced by McDonald’s in February 2014 in conjunction with the release of “The Lego Movie” as a way of expanding their promotional Happy Meal items through interactive games and other content.

Along with the Pokémon Happy Meal promotion, the popular fast food franchise will also be offering “American Girl” themed toys which also contain “McPlay Power,” app features as well.

The Pokemon themed toys annoucement arrives in participating U.S. McDonald’s fast food restaurants soon after McDonald’s restaurants in the U.K. ran a similar Nintendo promotion, offering “Super Mario” themed toys in their Happy Meals in March 2014.
