RTTNews - Monday, Poland's Central Statistical Office announced that the consumer price index or CPI rose 3.6% year-over-year in May, slower than the 4% increase in the previous month. Economist's were looking for an increase of 3.7%.

Prices for food, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, tobacco grew 6.1% annually in May, while clothing and footwear prices dropped 5%. Transport charges were down 4.5%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.5% in May, compared to the 0.7% growth in the preceding month.

For the January to May period, the CPI climbed 3.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
