RTTNews - Thursday, the Central Statistical Office of Poland said in a report that the consumer price index or CPI rose 4% year-over-year in April, faster than the 3.6% increase in the previous month. Economists were looking an increase of 3.8%.

Prices for food, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, tobacco increased 6.4% annually in April, while clothing and footwear prices dropped 7.9%. Transport charges declined 4.7%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.7% in April, marking the same pace as in the previous month.

For the January to April period, consumer prices increased 3.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
