Wednesday, Poland's Central Statistical Office said that the consumer price index or CPI rose 3.6% year-over-year in March, larger than the 3.3% increase in February. Economists were looking an increase of 3.4%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.7% in March, after rising 0.9% in February.

During the January to March period, the CPI grew 3.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Separately, the statistical office said the consumer prices grew 1.2% in the first quarter compared to the fourth quarter of 2008.
