Wednesday, in its latest report, Poland's Central Statistical Office said the gross domestic product's growth was revised up to 4.9% for 2008 from 4.8% reported earlier.

Meanwhile, in a separate report, the statistical office said the deficit of the general government stood at 3.9% of GDP in 2008, up from 1.9% in the previous year. Government deficit increased to PLN49.5 billion in 2008 from PLN22.1 billion in 2007.

The general government debt stood at 47.1% of GDP in 2008, rising from 44.9% of GDP in the preceding year. The debt of the general government grew to PLN598.4 billion from PLN527.6 billion in 2007.
