Shooting at Potawatomi Casino

Police were investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee. The incident left one woman with a gunshot wound to her leg after an altercation that she reportedly had with a man believed to be her boyfriend.

The woman was inside the casino with the male suspect before they got into a verbal argument, which escalated into a physical altercation, according to NBC News. The incident then escalated when a third-party, a man believed to be the woman’s brother, attempted to break things up. A gun was then fired, leaving the woman wounded in the leg. The shooting occurred at about 1:30 a.m. local time on Sunday, police said.

The 23-year-old woman was rushed to Froedtert Hospital, where she has since been reported to be in a stable condition.

While Police arrested the victim's 27-year-old boyfriend for the shooting, he'll reportedly be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office and brought up on charges.

Meanwhile, the Potawatomi Bingo Casino said in a statement that it closed temporarily after the shooting. It reopened at 9 a.m. Sunday. The statement called the shooting an "extremely isolated event."

The Potawatomi Bingo Casino is a 24-hour gaming facility that provides table games, slots, bingo, poker and off-track betting.
