The British pound edged up against major opponents following the release of March consumer confidence data in early Asian trading on Tuesday. As of now, the sterling is trading near 1.6420 against the Swiss franc, 1.4262 versus the US dollar, 0.9252 against the euro and 138.87 versus the yen.

Britain released its GfK Consumer Confidence number in today's early Asian deals. According to the report, the Consumer Confidence quoted at -30 in March, which may be compared to -35.
