The British pound staged a sharp fall against its major counterparts during Friday's early European deals. As of now, the pound is trading at 4-day low of 0.9399 against the euro, compared to 0.9361 hit late Thursday in New York. On the downside, the next likely target level for the UK currency is seen around the 0.949 level.

Against the currencies of Japan and Switzerland, the pound is now trading at a 2-day low of 141.71 and 1.6237, respectively.
