The pound held steady against its major opponents following the property industry group Hometrack's housing survey report for March showed that the average price for a home in England and Wales plummeted by a record 10.3 percent on year in March, following a 10.0 percent fall in February. On a monthly basis, prices eased 0.6 percent following the 0.8 percent monthly decline in February. As of now, the pound is trading at 1.4279 against the greenback, 140.16 versus the yen, 1.6357 against the franc and 0.9297 against the euro.
