VANCOUVER, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Western Coal Corp (TSX: WTN, WTN.WT and AIM: WTN) (the "Company" or "Western") will be holding its 2010 Special and Annual General Meeting ("Meeting") at 2:00 pm (Toronto) on September 9, 2010 at the Design Exchange at 234 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In support of the Meeting, the Company has mailed to shareholders its fiscal 2010 Annual Report and Management Information Circular (Circular). Copies of these documents can be found on the Company's website (www.westerncoal.com) or by contacting Western.

Further to the announcement on August 4, 2010 regarding the Company's intention to move to the Official List of the London Stock Exchange from the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), the Company is proposing to amend its articles of association to incorporate pre-emption rights to comply with the UK Listing Authority (UKLA). These, if ratified by shareholders, will be effective once the Company is admitted to the Official List. Following admittance to the Official List, the Company's primary listing will continue to be the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). Shareholders will also be asked to approve amendments to the Company's stock option plan as well as implementation of a preferred share unit plan and restricted share plan, all of which is detailed in the Circular.
