"Guitar Center Presents: Your Next Record with Keith Urban" competition winner to be announced Jan. 15, 2011. Public portion of voting completed Dec. 15 with the song "Lost Inside a Moment" by LA based Aussie artist Katie Cole, aka "The Female Keith Urban," heading into the judging portion of the competition as the top ranked song out of over 6000 entries.

Los Angeles, CA, January 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- "Glen is a great story teller, and after one of the shows he proceeded to tell me how he, many years ago did some shows in Australia. A young boy came up to him after one show and told him how he wanted to play guitar and sing just like Glen one day. Long story short, it turns out the boy was Keith Urban."

Los Angeles based, Australian Katie Cole recounted this story in her MySpace blog while reflecting upon opening up three shows in 2009 for country legend Glen Campbell. Katie again opened a show for Campbell in early 2010 and sang vocals on his next record coming out in 2011.

What makes this story potentially even more poignant is that recently Cole's song "Lost Inside a Moment" (co-written by Justin Gray) finished the public voting half of a competition on Ourstage.com as the number one ranked song out of over six thousand songs entered to record and open for that "boy" in Campbell's story, fellow Australian Keith Urban. During this public half of the contest that closed on Dec. 15th, Cole's song steadfastly held the number one position for nearly two months which by itself is quite an accomplishment.

Though being the top ranked song for most of the competition doesn't necessarily guaranty that Cole will win the single grand prize being awarded. The second half of the competition consisting of a panel of judges (which may or may not include Keith Urban) will solely determine the winner. This panel will make their selection from the top 100 finishers of the public portion based on the following criteria: (i) presentation; (ii) originality and creativity; (iii) melody, vocal ability and music; (iv) lyrics; and (v) entertainment value. The public ranking only comes into account if there's a tie (ie. the higher ranked song wins).

The one Grand Prize winner of the "Guitar Center Presents: Your Next Record with Keith Urban" competition will win the following: A 3–song E.P. with a top producer with Keith Urban appearing on a single, a feature of this single on iTunes, a $10,000 Guitar Center Shopping Spree, $10,000 in new gear from Gibson, endorsement deals from Gibson & D'Addario, and the opening slot at a Keith Urban show.

Whether or not Ourstage's Editor's recognition of Cole's song in his "Editor 2010 Picks: Heavy Rotation Playlist" is a good omen or not , the final selection of the winner will be announced on or around January 15th, 2011. Commenting on his list, the editor noted, "Why? Cole’s radio-ready “Lost Inside A Moment” feels like the pop crossover for an already established country star."
