Most recently, this intense ethic was tested when Skandia experienced challenging production problems with the assembly of their newly introduced SunQuest Solid Vinyl Shutter line, a classic southern style plantation design. A thick coating on the existing staples melted during the shutter manufacturing process and consequently jammed up the machines. Consequently, there were unacceptable production delays given that the stapling machines had to be frequently taken off line and cleaned.
As a result, Skandia turned to Manasquan Premium Fasteners in Brick, New Jersey for a solution to the challenge confronting the manufacture of its new shutter line and the 10-year customer warranty that supported each purchase. Within weeks, Manasquan remedied the situation by working with a local manufacturer to specially-develop a 1/4” x 5/8” stainless steel staple that combined superior fastening for the shutter’s tilt bar, with the benefits of a friction-activated resin that set like glue once applied.
“We learned about Skandia’s problem and ardently partnered with them to find an answer,” explains Robert Dey, partner of Manasquan Premium Fasteners. “This included reaching out to numerous fastener manufacturers until we could find one that thoroughly understood Skandia’s stapling process and possessed the means for proactively creating a long-term solution.”
