First exhibition of the artistts signature investment collection plus other works to be hosted by Greenwich Arts Council, Jan. 11 Feb. 12.

New York, NY, January 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- For the first time ever, New York artist Judith Gwyn Brown will be exhibiting “The New York Series,” ten framed oil-on-canvas paintings that tell the stories of New York City in an unparalleled and personal way, at the Greenwich Arts Council’s Bendheim Gallery in Greenwich, Conn., Jan. 11 – Feb. 12. This signature collection, which has never before been shown as a group, is part of “The World of Judith Gwyn Brown,” 30 works that Curator L. Tatiana Mori says “demonstrate the artist’s ability to assert symbolic content.”

An opening reception is scheduled for Thurs., Jan. 12, from 6 – 8 p.m. A conversation with the artist will be held at 6:45 p.m.

Brown is a renowned painter of men and women moving through the light, space and the shadows of intimate and mysterious settings. Her paintings and drawings are in permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Morgan Library in New York; The Boston Public Library; The Huntington Library in California, and university collections across the country. She also has exhibited in “Art to the Avenue,” the Greenwich Arts Council’s annual spring celebration that turns Greenwich into a strolling art gallery by bringing contemporary artists to downtown store windows through the month of May.

With a deep appreciation of New York City in its many guises, Brown has created “The New York Series” as a unique opportunity for investors in fine art. Investors who choose to support this work are encouraged to purchase the series (rather than individual paintings), with the intention of displaying them together in the permanent collection of a museum, university or library for public viewing and enjoyment. The initial offering price is $150,000.

Among the other original framed oil paintings that Brown will show in “The World of Judith Gwyn Brown” are “Memories in the Studio with Cherry Blossoms,” “Under the Sea,” “Fountain in the Park,” “Flowers at the Window” and “Skyline in the Elevator.” These pieces are available for individual sale by calling The Greenwich Arts Council, 203-862-6750.

As an adjunct to the paintings and drawings, Brown is offering commissioned pet portraits and is displaying examples loaned by local pet owners. Not only will animal lovers have an opportunity to commission for their own a beautiful portrait of the creature they cherish that is a work of fine art, they’ll be helping to improve the lives of dogs and cats, for Brown offers a portion of the proceeds of those commissions to P.A.W.S. of the Vineyard, the all-volunteer, not-for-profit Pet Adoption and Welfare Service of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. Funds generated by Brown’s pet portraits support a spay/neuter program with Vineyard veterinarians.

Judith Gwyn Brown is a distinguished artist and illustrator.
