Until now spotted only with a “rounded belly, France’s first lady, Carla Bruni, made her pregnancy public as she appeared in the gardens of the Elysee Palace Saturday.

The 43-year-old mother-to-be was accompanied by her husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, at the 28th annual National Heritage Days as France opened the doors of its state buildings to the public, Reuters reported.

It was Bruni’s first public appearance since speculations and rumors about her pregnancy caught all over.

The glowing former supermodel was seen greeting visitors and signing autographs.

Bruni’s due date is said to be in October. In early September, during a television interview, she clearly stated that she wouldn’t release any photographs of her first child with Sarkozy.

Italian-born Bruni has a son from a former relationship. It would be her second child and Sarkozy's fourth after the three sons he has from two former marriages.
