Ciara, who is pregnant and in her third trimester, was involved in a car crash Friday in Los Angeles. Authorities said the incident involved two cars, one of which belonged to the pop singer.

Amid concerns over Ciara and her baby's safety, her husband Russell Wilson wrote on his Twitter account that the mother and child are safe. The 31-year-old, who is already a mother to rapper Future's baby, is expecting her first child with Wilson.

A spokesperson for the singer told Us Weekly: "Ciara and the baby are doing well... [The other driver] hit the right side of the car."

The accident occurred when the "I Bet" singer was driving a white Mercedes SUV and was hit by a gray Volvo SUV, TMZ reported.

A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department said that police and fire department officials were called to the scene after the accident and added that Ciara and the other driver were not seriously injured in the incident.

Ciara recently made headlines for baring her baby bump in a topless photoshoot for HarpersBazaar.com. The photoshoot drew a string of criticism on the internet and was also recently spoofed by Ellen DeGeneres.

The controversial photo showed Ciara holding her son Future and Wilson placing his hands around her baby bump. On Thursday, DeGeneres photoshopped her head sticking out from Ciara’s back, captioning the photo: "We’re expecting."

In the Harpers Bazaar interview, Ciara spoke about her husband, whom she married last July in England. “If someone’s not supporting you and your vision and your dreams —whether it’s your relationship partner, your friend, whomever, then you’ve got to make sure to keep it moving,” she said. “If people aren’t lifting you up, even if you’re the strongest person in the world, eventually it does chip away at you. You don’t even realize that you’re losing yourself. And that’s the scariest place to be in life… I don’t want to lose myself. I love myself too much. I love life too much.”
