“Pretty Little Liars” fans better strap on their seatbelts because Season 5 is turning out to be a bumpy and wild ride. The hope of a drama-free life without “A” was tossed out the window in episode 2 when Alison came up with a new lie about being kidnapped, but that’s only the start of the problems in store for the girls. Episode 3, “Surfing the Aftershocks,” will follow up on the shocking discovery at the end of episode 2, and leave the original four liars questioning whether things are better with Alison back in their lives.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! Stop reading unless you watched “Pretty Little Liars” episode 2, “Whirly Girlie.”

“Pretty Little Liars” viewers will remember that Mrs. DiLaurentis helped bury Alison when she believed her daughter to be dead. Alison was desperate to get answers from her mom about that traumatizing night, but unfortunately that won’t happen anytime soon. Episode 2, “Whirly Girlie,” found Alison’s new dog exposing Mrs. DiLaurentis’ body in a shallow grave – and that’s something that Alison will struggle with in episode 3.

While Ali tries to sort out her feelings about her mother’s death, the rest of the Liars will be forced to cover their tracks about Alison’s “kidnapping” story. However that doesn’t mean that they’re giving up on finding out what really happened in New York. The ladies split up in order to put the pieces together, and get some answers with the hope of one day telling the truth. Hanna and Aria work on the two loose ends that know the truth about Alison’s story – Mona and Ezra; while Spencer and Aria try to get to the bottom of what Jason was doing the night they were in New York.

On top of everything else, Alison’s return and new lies will continue to take a toll on the girls. Aria freaked out in episode 2 about having to keep quiet about her involvement in Shana’s death, and episode 3 will find Hanna having a meltdown of her own. The synopsis for “Surfing the Aftershocks” teases that Hanna will be starting to “examine who she really is – Hefty Hanna or Queen Bee Hanna – now that Ali is back.”

Episode 3 of “Pretty Little Liars” will air on ABC Family on June 24 at 8 p.m. EDT. What do you think will happen in “Surfing the Aftershocks”? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop and check out the photos and promo video below:
