Pretty Little Liars
On “Pretty Little Liars” Season 7, episode 15, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) runs into someone from the past. Freeform

Last viewers saw of “Pretty Little Liars,” one of the Liars seemed to go rogue and joined the dark side. However, in a sneak peek of Season 7, episode 15 of the Freeform drama, the return of a familiar face seems to further fuel and ongoing fan theory.

“In the Eye Abides the Heart” sneak peek, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) can be seen at the airport talking to an unknown man when Ezra (Ian Harding) walks up to her. Spencer then introduces her companion who turns put to be Wren (Julian Morris).

After introducing the two to one another, Spencer explains to Ezra that she and Wren have a history because he almost married her sister (Torrey DeVitto) a few times. Wren then tells Ezra that he is having a long layover and Spencer came to keep him company.

Although the two have not met before, it seems they are familiar with one another and Ezra appears to be in a rush to get away from Wren and Spencer as if he shouldn’t be in the airport, which comes off as a bit suspicious.

Fans haven’t seen Wren since Season 4 when he decided to go to London with Melissa but before his departure, it was assumed that he knew about Red Coat.

READ: Who is “A” on “Pretty Little Liars?”

For many seasons, fans have believed that Wren has been pulling the strings all along and is “A.” For example, in Season 4, episode 4, “A” ordered a vodka soda while waiting at the airport. Over the previous two seasons, Wren has been seen ordering or making this drink, showing that it is his beverage of choice when it comes to alcohol.

Another clue that Wren could be “A” was in Season 1 when the Liars blocked “A’s” number and a drunk Wren showed up to the Hastings home. While there Wren told Spencer that he tried to call her but she blocked his number.

Also, before the Radley was a hotel, Wren worked there treating Mona (Janel Parrish) and knew a lot about the institution which means he could have come in contact with Charlotte (Vanessa Ray).

Did Wren fall for Charlotte even though she was a patient? Perhaps the two were partners when it came to harassing the Liars and Wren is looking for revenge against the person who took her away from him.

Wren’s “layover” in Rosewood is also skeptical seeing as Aria (Lucy Hale) seems well on her way to joining the “A” team. In the last episode, Aria told “A” she wanted out of the game and met up with Sydney (Chloe Bridges) who offered her a position on the “A” team.

When Aria met up with her friends later after missing a bunch of drama, she seemed unbothered by their problems. Spencer insisted that going forward, the Liars can no longer make mistakes and warned Aria to tread carefully because it’s her turn next. However, when the game board lit up, it skipped Aria’s turn and chose Hanna (Ashley Benson) to play next.

Has Wren returned to Rosewood to check on the newest member of the “A” team or is he simply passing through?

“Pretty Little Liars” Season 7, episode 15, airs Tuesday, May 23, at 8 p.m. EDT on Freeform.
