Michael Owen may be back in action for the Red Devils

Desperate to avoid relegation, Wigan Athletic face title-favorites Manchester United in Premier League action on Saturday at DW Stadium.

Manchester United have Arsenal breathing down their necks in the Premier League standings, and are coming off an uninspiring performance against Marseille in the first leg of the Champions League.

A loss or tie would be a disappointment for Sir Alex Ferguson's side. The Latics have not taken a point from the Red Devils since they were promoted to the Premier League in 2005, and have been outscored 37-4.

Wigan have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 10 Premier League games, so this will be a major test for Roberto Martinez's side as they face perhaps the most potent offense in the Premier League.

Central defender Rio Ferdinand will be sidelined, along with midfielders Park Ji-Sung and Anderson. Midfielder Valencia has participated in workouts but his status is questionable.

According to Ferguson, forward Michael Owen is fit and could be available after recovering from a groin injury. Midfielder Ryan Giggs might be in action this Saturday, as well.
