New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara became the latest football player to admit to being a virgin.

Amukamara discussed his lifestyle choices regarding sex, alcohol and nutrition in an interview with Muscle & Fitness magazine. During the interview, the 24-year-old cornerback claimed that he doesn’t drink and doesn’t engage in premarital sex.

“I grew up Catholic, so it just started out as one of those things. I’d think, “If I do this, maybe I can get to heaven,” so I said no drinks, no sex, all the big things,” Amukamara told Muscle & Fitness. “As I grew up, I realized that’s not what it’s about. It’s about having a relationship with Jesus. It’s not about “Don’t do this. Don’t do that.” But still, it’s just one of those things I haven’t done, and I don’t see any benefit to doing it.”

Amukamara added that the NFL’s recent string of DUI arrests provides plenty of motivation to abstain from alcohol. “You’re always reading about people getting DUIs. So many bad things that happen and wind up in the paper are alcohol-related, so by not drinking, it saves me, my team, and my family a lot of trouble,” the Giants cornerback told Muscle & Fitness.

Still, Amukamara admitted that his upcoming marriage to fiancée Pilar Davis might provide an opportunity to have his first drink.” I told my fiancée that I’ll probably take my first drink at my bachelor party. I don’t know if I will, but …,” Amukamara told Muscle & Fitness.

The 24-year-old also noted that he has earned the nickname “the black Tim Tebow,” a reference to his unabashed status as a virgin. Tebow admitted in 2009 that he abstains from premarital sex due to his strong religious beliefs.

“Yeah, some people call me the black Tim Tebow,” Amukamara told Muscle & Fitness. “Yeah, I am a virgin. I’m not ashamed to admit it.”

Amukamara and Davis have been engaged since July 2013, when the Giants cornerback proposed to his girlfriend during a Jabbawockeez show in Las Vegas, The Record reports. Amukamara flew Davis and her family out to Las Vegas for the show, then donned a mask and pretended to be part of the act. As the show progressed, Amukamara removed the mask, dropped to one knee and asked Davis to marry him.
