Prince George had his first day of school on Thursday, but prior to that the, 4-year-old tot posted for a quick snapshot.

Kensington Palace shared Prince George and Prince William's first day of school portrait. In the photo, the prices look cool and Kate Middleton's son is very cute in his new uniform.

"The Duke and Duchess are very pleased to share a photograph of The Duke and Prince George at Kensington Palace this morning," the palace wrote on Twitter.

Middleton is visibly missing in the photo because she missed Prince George's first day of school. The royal mom has not been feeling well due to her pregnancy. The Duchess of Cambridge is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. The same condition plagued her during her first and second pregnancy for Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Initially, Middleton and Prince William planned to escort their eldest son at Thomas's Battersea. Unfortunately, due to Middleton's condition she opted to just stay at home. The Duchess of Cambridge was reportedly devastated to miss her son's first day of school.

"Kate watched the news from home," an insider said. "She was desperately sad that she couldn't make it but she is on firm bed rest now until she feels better."

Even if the Duchess of Cambridge was not in perfect condition to join Prince George to school, his royal dad was with him all the way. Prince William was a proud dad when he dropped off his son to school.

Middleton and Prince William opted to choose co-ed for their son. Initially, many thought that Prince George will attend Wetherby, an exclusive prep school where Prince William and Prince Harry studied.

Thomas's Battersea is dedicated to teaching their students good values and quality education. On their website they describe the school as "a busy, thriving, purposeful school, educating 560 boys and girls between the ages of four and 13."

The institution's most important rule is to "be kind." They also teach their pupils core values like courtesy, confidence, humility and generosity. Their broad curriculum includes Art, Ballet, Drama, ICT, French Music and PE. All of the subjects are taught by specialist teachers.
