Prince George may soon be following after his father Prince William’s interest in motorcycles. The royal toddler was recently photographed enjoying a ride on a police bike under Kate Middleton’s watchful eye.

Prince William and Kate’s son has recently enjoyed his first police motorcycle ride on Tuesday. Prince George was photographed as he sat on top of a Metropolitan Police bike while four police officers helped him to reach the handle bars, Express reported. On the side, the royal toddler’s mother Kate was snapped with a wide smile on her face as she looked after Prince George while holding onto the pram that carried Princess Charlotte.

The unexpected scene happened during the Duchess of Cambridge’s rare walk with children Prince George and Princess Charlotte around the Kensington Palace grounds. An eyewitness has shared that the young royal prince rode atop the police bike “for quite a while,” as stated in the same report. The eyewitness also described the moment as “so lovely.” “Kate was really smiley. There were about three or four hundred people watching,” the eyewitness added.

The moment also mirrors a similar childhood experience that Prince William and brother Prince Harry both enjoyed more than 25 years ago. Avid royal watchers may recall that Prince George’s father, as well as his uncle, also rode on a police motorcycle in November 1987 during a visit to the police force with the late Princess Diana. At that time, the Princess of Wales and her two sons were also photographed. In that picture, Prince William and Prince Harry wore police helmets while sitting on top of a police bike with their mother standing beside them.

Meanwhile, royal fans may soon see Prince George on the Buckingham Palace balcony in the upcoming Queen’s birthday parade, the Trooping the Colors. The royal toddler is said to be looking forward to the event, a source told Vanity Fair. Apart from Prince George, the Duke of Cambridge is also reportedly planning to bring Princess Charlotte for her first Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.

However, it is still unsure if Prince William and Kate’s youngest child will indeed appear at the palace balcony along with other members of the royal family. “It all depends on how [Princess Charlotte] is on the day, but William and Kate agree it would be a lovely thing to do,” the source explained.

The 2016 Trooping the Colors celebrations will happen on June 11.
