Britain's Prince Harry has split with his girlfriend Chelsy Davy after a five-year relationship, British media reported Saturday.

The 24-year-old split with Davy, a post-graduate law student at Leeds University, weeks after holidaying with her in Mauritius, according to BBC news, citing unnamed sources.

The Times of London said it was not known what caused the break-up but that friends of Chelsy have said the time the pair spent apart and Harry's lifestyle were to blame. The report claims it was the decision of the prince's girlfriend to end the relationship.

Harry met Davy, the Zimbabwe-born daughter of millionaire safari operator Charles Davy, through mutual friends in early 2004 when she was in school.

They began dating but later broke up in 2007 for a short period, apparently because Harry missed Davy's 22nd birthday party to watch the rugby World Cup final in Paris.

The prince is currently a lieutenant in the Household Cavalry, served a short spell in Afghanistan last year before a media blackout collapsed.
