Long before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked royal watchers by announcing their departure from their senior position within the British royal family, the couple was rumored to be facing marital issues.

Last February, after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made an appearance at a gala performance of “The Wider Earth” in support of Queen Elizabeth II’s Commonwealth Trust and the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy at the Natural History Museum in London, Prince Harry’s body language made headlines.

Following the event, Woman’s Day released a story claiming Prince Harry was “trapped in a loveless marriage.” Speaking to the outlet, an eyewitness said that while Meghan was smiling and appeared happy at the gala, Harry was there “in body but not in spirit.”

Added a source, "He wasn't as tactile as he usually is with Meghan, which was a surprise given they're usually hand-in-hand at all times. He's even stopped laughing and joking with photographers like he used to as well. Harry seems distant, like he has a lot on his mind."

According to the outlet, Harry’s less-than-positive demeanor may have been a result of Meghan’s friends using People Magazine to help clear her name amid her feud with her father. “Woman's Day is told that the late Princess Diana's son is struggling to handle the never-ending farce his marriage has become in recent months...,” the outlet reported.

Using the American outlet as a “mouthpiece” reportedly led to a dispute between the pair, who, at the time, were expecting their first child, Archie Harrison. “This is probably the first time they've had an out and out disagreement, and Harry’s not coping well,” an insider stated.

Noting the “honeymoon period” was over the couple, the outlet reported via a source, "No one would blame him if he cracked and decided he can't do it anymore.”

While Prince Harry and Meghan were rumored to be facing marital issues last February, the pair is still holding strong. Last month, they announced they were taking a step back from their senior royal positions in an effort to become financially independent. Moving forward, they are also planning to split their time between the U.K. and North America.
