With only a few days to go for the royal wedding, Prince William and Kate carried out a final engagement in Lancashire where they inaugurated the Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.

William also launched the SkillForce Prince's Award, which recognizes contribution that young people make to their communities.

I have learnt through working with some truly inspiring charities - none more so than SkillForce that these things can never be taken for granted. SkillForce is an extraordinary charity. It mentors and educates young people who are facing some of the toughest challenges that life can bring, Prince William stated during the official opening of the academy.

Afterwards, both William and Kate visited the sports pavilion of Witton Country Park as part of the Prince's role as patron of a plan to protect outdoor recreational spaces.
