Prince William and Kate are to compete in a dragonboat race during their North American tour in Canada on July 4.

The boats will race across Dalvay Lake, according to the Globe and Mail.

Their Royal Highnesses will team up with Dragonboat racers, taking a boat each - although I hasten to add, not themselves paddling, though probably steering - and they will race across the lake to the opposite bank where crowds will be gathered, said Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the couple's private secretary.

After their visit in Canada, the couple will visit California for more royal engagements.
