Ligonier Student Earns National Merit Commendation
LIGONIER, Pa., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Anna Hanley, a senior in thePennsylvania Cyber Charter School, has been named a Commended Student in the2009 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Hanley is recognized as one of the 34,000 students throughout the nationwho scored in the top 5 percent of the 1.5 million students who took the 2007Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
A daughter of Joanne and Matthew Hanley of Ligonier, Hanley plans to entercollege to study political economy and journalism.

Hanley has been a PA Cyber student since sixth grade with the exception ofher ninth grade year, which she spent as a figure skating and academic studentin residence at the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, N.Y. She washonored as the top academic student in her grade at the Academy that year withthe Phil Newton Faculty Award for Academic Excellence.
In addition to being an accomplished figure skater, Hanley plays theviolin and is active in youth groups and Bible studies at CovenantPresbyterian Church.
