SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/02/08 -- Providing proven network and communicationsolutions for global customers through its Global Strategic Alliance withAvaya, ExtremeNetworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXTR) today announced it has successfullypassed interoperability compliance-testing of its new BlackDiamond® 8800modules with Avaya's market-leading IP telephony solutions. ExtremeNetworks' G48Tc and G48Te2 modules provide high density 10/100/1000Ethernet connectivity with field upgradeable Power over Ethernet (PoE)functionality.

Extreme Networks® G48Tc and G48Te2 modules were tested forinteroperability with the Avaya S8500 Server, Avaya G650 Media Gateways andAvaya's IP telephones.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) allows BlackDiamond 8800 series switches tosupport large converged and wireless LAN deployments. The BlackDiamond 8810switch can scale to support up to 432 IP phones in a single chassis. Theswitch supports class 1, 2 and 3 phones as well as the emerging enhancedPoE standard, ePoE, when more than 15.4 watts are required by a device. Theresult is powerful voice and data support with scalable power and bandwidthcapacity.

Extreme Networks products were validated for interoperability through theAvaya DevConnect program -- an initiative to promote the development,compliance-testing and co-marketing of innovative third-party products thatare compatible with Avaya's standards-based solutions.
