Catholic Healthcare West Names Hunt, O'Quinn to Chief Operating Officer Posts

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/13/08 -- Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), theeighth largest hospital system in the nation, announced today that WilliamJ. (Bill) Hunt and Marvin O'Quinn have been named to dual Executive VicePresident/Chief Operating Officer positions. Each executive will haveoperational responsibility for approximately half of CHW's facilities. Thepair replaces Michael Erne, who retired this month after serving with CHWsince 1997. With the dual EVP/COO positions CHW has eliminated the threegroup president of operations positions, resulting in a flattening of theoperations structure for the organization.

Bill Hunt has served in several leadership roles at CHW since 1996. Since2003 he has served as President of Group Operations overseeing theoperations of fifteen hospitals throughout Northern California and Reno,Nevada. He also served as the President/Chief Executive Officer of the CHWMedical Foundation, a 300+ physician group practice in Northern California.In his new role he will be responsible for operations in NorthernCalifornia from the Oregon border south to Kern County. Hunt willadditionally be responsible for physician engagement efforts across the41-hospital system.

Marvin O'Quinn is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer ofJackson Health System in Miami, Fla. He will remain in that position toensure a smooth transition and join CHW effective Jan. 1, 2009. O'Quinnwill be responsible for the service areas in Arizona, Nevada, and inCalifornia from San Luis Obispo south. He will also be responsible forintegrated process management and ambulatory operations.

Bill Hunt has more than 35 years experience in healthcare, as a practicingphysician assistant, educator and administrator. Prior to joining CHW heserved in leadership roles at Thomas-Davis Medical Centers, a 230-providermulti-specialty in Arizona and with the Geisinger Health System inPennsylvania. He holds a bachelor's of Science degree in health sciencesand certification as a physician assistant from Hahnemann University and aMaster's of Science degree in Management from Houston Baptist University,College of Business and Economics. He is a Vietnam Veteran who served onactive duty in the United States Air Force for seven years.

Before assuming his current role in 2003, Mr. O'Quinn served as ExecutiveVice President and Chief Operating Officer of Atlantic Health System inFlorham Park, N.J. Earlier he held executive positions with New YorkPresbyterian Health System, Providence Medical Center and ProvidenceMilwaukee Hospital in Portland, Ore. He also held key positions with otherhospital and medical centers in Portland, Fresno and Seattle. Mr. O'Quinnreceived his bachelor's degree in biology and master's degree in healthadministration from the University of Washington.
