Retina OnDemand Hosted Service Thwarts Network Exploits and Data Loss Attacks

IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/10/08 -- eEye Digital Security (www.eeye.com), an expertin integrated security and threat management solutions, today announced theavailability of Retina OnDemand, which provides network security via theSoftware-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.
By using the SaaS model, Retina OnDemand simplifies the deployment process,which allows businesses to rapidly adopt the service to managejob-scheduling, reports, and results through REM, eEye's centralizedsecurity management console for any size deployment small to large.
Using the SaaS model eliminates the need to configure and maintain servers,databases and software. Also referred to a hosted solution, SaaS is asoftware delivery method that provides access to software remotely as aWeb-based service. Since SaaS pricing is based on a subscription fee, themodel allows customers to access Retina OnDemand at a lower cost ascompared to installing the software on-site as a licensed application. Dueto the software's remote hosting, businesses do not need to invest inadditional hardware.
Retina OnDemand detects illegal traffic and fundamental flaws, and itrecommends actions for remediation and mitigation. Utilizing advancedauditing techniques to non-intrusively determine if a host is vulnerable toexploits and data loss, the solution combines eEye's Retina NetworkSecurity Scanner, Iris Network Traffic Analyzer and Blink ProfessionalHost-based Intrusion Prevention solution into a single service thatprovides multi-platform network discovery and scalable vulnerabilityassessment for any size network environment.
Upon licensing Retina OnDemand, eEye Digital Security will install therequired number of Retina 651 Security Management Appliances according toeach customer's needs. eEye configures the appliances so customers cansimply log-on to a secure eEye Internet site to access the REM console andfully scan their environment, review results, generate reports and downloadinformation.
Research conducted by THINKstrategies and Cutter Consortium over the pastthree years has found rising interest and adoption of SaaS by corporateusers. The most recent survey found that one third of respondents wereusing a SaaS application and another 37% were considering SaaSalternatives. Of those already using SaaS, over 90% were satisfied andplanned to adopt additional SaaS solutions, and they would encourage theirpeers to adopt SaaS solutions. Of those considering SaaS, 80% planned toadopt a SaaS solution in 2008.*
