WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 11/13/08 -- The organizers of the first-ever GlobalEntrepreneurship Week today announced the launch of the Global InnovationTournament. The competition invites student teams around the world tocreate as much value as possible from a common, everyday object in onlyfour days and present their results in videos posted to YouTube. Themystery object, Water Bottles, was unveiled tonight at 9 p.m. EST. Studentshave gone to work and will submit their videos on Nov. 17, the first day ofGlobal Entrepreneurship Week.

The Global Innovation Tournament is a fast and furious "Apprentice-style"competition that encourages students to work in teams, challengeassumptions, seize opportunities and be creative. Most of all, it givesthem a taste of what it's like to be entrepreneurial by creating valuewhile working with constraints, such as limited time and resources.

Past versions of this competition involved Post-It Notes® and rubber bands, with which teams raised and donated money, composed music, helped thedisabled, made political statements and educated children. Results from thefirst Global Innovation Tournament were so inspirational that a documentaryfilm crew from Infinite Loop Media captured them in a documentary filmreleased earlier this year, "Imagine It!" It is available for free, onlineviewing or can be downloaded at www.imagineitproject.com.

The competition is being conducted by the Stanford Entrepreneurship Network(SEN), which is a federation of more than 18 organizations across StanfordUniversity that are related to entrepreneurship. SEN programs, includingthe competition, are sponsored by Deloitte. (http://sen.stanford.edu)
