IODA Partners With BounDEE, Creating Strong Mobile Presence in Japan

IODA's Independent Labels and Artists Now Have Access to More Than 200 Music Retailers and Mobile Partners in Japan; IODA to Distribute BounDEE's Catalog of Music Worldwide

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/17/08 -- IODA, the global leader in digitaldistribution, marketing, and technology solutions for the independent musicand film industry, today announced a worldwide partnership with BounDEE,Japan's largest distributor of independent music. Through BounDEE'srelationship with more than 200 online music and mobile stores, IODA'scatalog of independent artists will be able to grow their digital andphysical sales in Japan. As part of the partnership, IODA will alsorepresent BounDEE's independent artists and labels worldwide.

The partnership with BounDEE expands IODA's reach in Japan, which currentlyincludes relationships with several Japanese digital retailers includingiTunes Japan. On the content side, IODA currently represents hundreds ofJapanese independent labels as well as Japanese major labels such as PonyCanyon and Victor Entertainment to distribute select releasesinternationally.

Digital music for mobile devices comprises 91 percent of the digital musicmarket in Japan (IFPI). Tokyo-based BounDEE's strong relationships withmobile music retailers, including mobile music giant Label Mobile, provideimportant access and growth opportunities for IODA clients. BounDEE willalso make its physical distribution and marketing services available toIODA clients seeking to more aggressively grow their business in theregion.

BounDEE officially kicked-off the new partnership with the release of USAfor Africa's "We Are The World" track to Label Mobile and other digitalstores in Japan. "We Are The World," the inspirational anthem from the1980s, has long been a top seller in Japan with the recently releaseddigital music video holding the number one spot on iTunes for over fiveweeks this fall. The release of "We Are The World" marks the first timethis track will be available on mobile phones in Japan. Last month, a betarelease of Brooklyn, New York-based IODA artist Chairlift to select digitalretailers in Japan saw its track "Bruises" become a top five download onLabel Mobile's international chart. BounDEE also recently made the trackavailable at music.jp and dwango, two other dominant mobile retailers inthe region.

Through IODA's global distribution network, BounDEE will now have virtualshelf space at digital retailers, mobile outlets and subscription servicesworldwide. The first independent artist released by IODA was Genki Rockets,a band featuring a virtual vocalist that has been a huge sensation inJapan.
