PharmaCom BioVet, Inc. Collaborates With PetScreen, LTD, Leading Innovator of Canine Cancer Early Detection
RALEIGH, NC -- (Marketwire) -- 11/17/08 -- PharmaCom BioVet, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PHMB) ispleased to announce a formal collaborative agreement with PetScreen, LTD,BioCity Nottingham, UK, to help improve cancer diagnosis and treatment forcanines. PetScreen is the leading innovator of early detection of caninecancer. With one in three dogs developing cancer, early detectionincreases the chance of successful treatment and survival.
Dr. Kevin Slater, Chief Executive Officer of the PetScreen, LTD Board ofDirectors, confirmed his company's participation by stating, "I am verypleased that our two companies have agreed to collaborate both commerciallyand technically to implement a range of new technologies aimed at improvingcancer diagnosis and treatment in companion animals. We believe that thiscollaboration will go a long way toward achieving our mutual goals,"concluded Slater.
PetScreen, LTD, formally incorporated in 2004 by Slater and board Chairman,Professor Graeme Radcliffe, was founded by people who have lost their petsto cancer and by experienced scientists who have worked on new methods forthe detection and treatment of cancer in companion animals. They use thelatest proven scientific developments to provide veterinarians withimproved testing methodologies to help them make better diagnostic andtreatment decisions for companion animals with cancer.
PetScreen, LTD is actively engaged in a comprehensive profile of services, combining testing, treatment and networking of national and internationalcollaborators to provide services and support to the veterinary cancerpatient. Gary Berthold, President and CEO of PharmaCom BioVet, Inc., addedhis enthusiasm for the agreement saying, "In forming this cooperativerelationship with PetScreen, LTD, we are continuing to broaden our linkswith cancer scientists and veterinary leaders on a world-wide basis; thusincreasing the opportunities for a greater range of research, diagnosis andtreatment technologies, and hastening the progress towards treatmentefficacy and an eventual cure of canine cancers."
After losing two of their prize Siberian Huskies to cancer, PharmaComBioVet, Inc. founders, Gary and Sharon Berthold, were inspired to searchfor meaningful remedies to this dreaded killer of companion canines. Intheir research, they discovered two alarming facts: 1) Statistically, onein three dogs is diagnosed with cancer at some time in their life, and atleast 50% of those dogs are likely to succumb. 2) Historically, there hasbeen an alarming lack of viable treatment options and facilities forcompanion animals suffering from cancer. Armed with this evidence andtheir own personal commitment, the Bertholds founded PharmaCom BioVet, Inc.to aggressively advance the establishment ofleading-edge, compassionate-care treatment centers using the latestscientific breakthroughs in cancer treatment.
Teaming up with international industry leaders such as PetScreen, LTD ofNottingham, UK and IsoTherapeutics Group, LLC of Angleton, Texas, PharmaComBioVet, Inc. is actively engaged in supporting global research, diagnosisand novel cancer treatment methodologies. "Our ultimate goal is toeradicate cancer in companion animals. To accomplish this great task, weare collaborating with the brightest minds in cancer research and oncologytreatment programs around the world," stated Berthold.
