Solid Access Technologies Unveils DRAM Solid State Disk USSD 300 Series
Innovations Include Doubling Both DRAM SSD Density and Interface Speeds, for Applications Demanding Data Storage With the Lowest Latency and Highest Bandwidth
AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 11/17/08 -- SC08, Booth # 3009 - At SC08, the premierinternational event for high performance computing (HPC), networking, storage and analysis, Solid Access Technologies, a leading provider of I/Oacceleration appliances, today announced the immediate availability of itsnew generation of DRAM Solid State Disk products, the USSD Series 300.
Featuring significant enhancements in capacity density and furtherimprovements in power and cooling components, the Solid Access USSD 300 isthe clear choice for organizations requiring the highest capacity, "nocompromises" IOPS and data bandwidth performance in the smallest possiblefootprint.
The USSD 300 Series DRAM SSD models introduced are as follows:
-- Model 310, a 256 GB, 1U rack mount offering for high IOPS needs-- Model 310T, a 1 TB, 4U tower, targeted at high performance databases-- Model 315, a combined server and 128 GB DRAM SSD, 1U device, for custom projects-- Model 320, a 256 GB, 2U product, where data bandwidth and features such as port mapping are key to multi-server USSD resource leveraging.
Solid Access has already benchmarked 100K IOPS using a single Fibre Channellink (up to 6 links are available in the 2U USSD 320) and now achieves 4GB/second sustained aggregated data bandwidth.
"Five years ago when we introduced the first open architecture, ultra-fastDRAM SSD, our goal was to offer the best performance, most flexibleinterfacing, highest density and best price of any offering in the segment. The new USSD 300 Series is the capstone to our efforts in a year in whichwe have enjoyed 500 percent growth. The recent 28 unit USSD sale toSamsung Securities is further proof that customers of all sizes are takingnotice," stated Tomas Havrda, Solid Access Managing Director.
The USSD's use of a 100 percent standard components-based architectureprovides Solid Access with unique differentiators in both its ability toprovide significant enhancements like the 256 GB, 1U DRAM SSD device, aswell as a further widening of the existing price advantage against categorycompetitors.
"While much attention has been paid to flash-based devices, SSD technologyis all about increasing IOPS and elimination of latency. DRAM basedsolutions are still the leaders in these categories, and products likeSolid Access' USSD 300 Series of solutions provide a clear path to meetingthose goals," stated analyst George Crump, founder and president of StorageSwitzerland.
Solid Access also announced support for 8 Gb/sec fibre channel and 6 Gb/secserial-attached SCSI interfaces, both available in Q1, 2009. Prices forthe new USSD Series 300 models are available now.
Solid Access guarantees equivalent or better application I/O accelerationas well as the lowest price of any comparable SSD.
Solid Access will be showcasing a demo of the USSD 320 solution at SC08,Nov. 15-21, 2008 in Austin, Texas, in Booth 3009. For more information onSC08, please visit http://sc08.supercomputing.org/.
