ON Networks® (ON) today announced the release of the first episode of Smart Girls at the Party - the original digital TV series that aims to help young girls find confidence in their own aspirations and talents. The series was created by and stars actor/writer Amy Poehler and friend Meredith Walker, former senior producer for Nickelodeon's Nick News, and former head of talent for Saturday Night Live. Amy Miles, recording artist and performer and host of PBS children's show LOMAX: Hound of Music, stars as the series' regular musical act.

ON Networks also announced that the first season of Smart Girls at the Party will be sponsored by Barbie®, an iconic brand that continues to encourage girls to be who they want to be - whether it's a princess, doctor, fashion model or president of the United States.

"The message that Smart Girls at the Party brings to girls is one that the Barbie brand continues to drive and we're thrilled to support this original series," said Stephanie Cota, Senior Vice President, Barbie Marketing.

Smart Girls at the Party celebrates young girls who bring hope and change to the world by being themselves. In each episode, Amy Poehler interviews a girl with a unique talent, community interest or point of view. The conversation ranges from the serious to the light-hearted. Girls offer spirited truths, proving that you don't have to be famous to be interesting or to make a difference in the world.

"Our goal was to create a show we would have loved to watch when we were young," said Meredith Walker, co-creator of Smart Girls at the Party. "We knew we wanted to honor real girls and their originality, and we knew we wanted to have fun doing it."

The inaugural season of Smart Girls at the Party will include eight short episodes released weekly plus a bonus interview episode with Amy Poehler, Meredith Walker and Amy Miles. The episodes are available exclusively through ON Networks at www.smartgirlsattheparty.com and its syndication partners, including iTunes, Adobe Media Player, and a set of targeted Web, digital TV and mobile providers.

"Original on-demand series like Smart Girls at the Party allow us to reinvent traditional TV show formats and explore new ways to reach and engage today's viewers," said Jen Grogono, co-founder and chief content officer of ON Networks. "We're honored to work with such talented and inventive show creators, as well as a sponsor like the Barbie brand who truly understand the value of bringing fresh, quality programming to young girls and their parents wherever and whenever they wish to watch."

In less than two years, ON Networks has become one of the largest independent distributors and producers of original, professional programming for digital platforms.
