eMusic: A Quarter Billion MP3 Downloads Served

Catalogue Hits 4.5 Million; Adds Righteous Babe, Barsuk and Domino Titles

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/20/08 -- eMusic,the world's largest retailer of independent music and the world'ssecond-largest digital music service after iTunes, today announced that ithas sold 250 million MP3 downloads since establishing its currentsubscription model in 2003. The major milestone comprises music downloadssold in the U.S., Canada and the E.U., where eMusic is available in 26European nations.

eMusic also announced that its catalogue has surpassed 4.5 million trackswith the addition of titles from high profile independent labels such asRighteous Babe Records, Barsuk Records and the Domino Recording Co. TheRighteous Babe label, owned by singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco, includesDiFranco's full catalogue, plus releases from Andrew Bird and Arto Lindsay.Barsuk, the ten-year-old label based in Seattle, brings Mates of State, RaRa Riot, Nada Surf and the Long Winters. And Domino, headquartered inLondon, is known for music from The Arctic Monkeys, The Kills, AnimalCollective and The Notwist.

The 250 millionth track downloaded was from In Ear Park by Department ofEagles on the 4AD/ Beggars Group label. Compared to eMusic's first 100million downloads, the latest 100 million downloads took about one-thirdthe amount of time (1122 days vs. 453 days).
