Joyner-Walker Chooses Two Tampa Beneficiaries for Par and Poker Celebrity Challenge for Charity

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Joyner-Walker Foundation today named the Kid's Charity of Tampa Bay, Inc. and the Judeo Christian Health Clinic, Inc. as the Tampa beneficiaries for the 2009 Par and Poker Celebrity Challenge for Charity following a competitive application review.

"It is only appropriate that events like this give back to the host city communities," said Super Bowl Champion and Co-founder Seth Joyner. "We wouldn't dare come into the city to take advantage of the economic impact of the Super Bowl and run out of town with all the money."

The Joyner-Walker Foundation and the Tampa beneficiaries share a common goal to enrich the lives of those who benefit from their charities. The Kid's Charity of Tampa Bay works to improve the quality of life for foster children and foster families while the Judeo Christian Health Clinic works to provide free, quality healthcare to thousands of uninsured families. The Joyner-Walker Foundation's flagship program is financial literacy, which teaches youth the necessities of money management that are not taught in general education.

The Par and Poker Celebrity Challenge for Charity takes place Thursday, January 29, 2009 and brings together professional athletes and stars from the world of entertainment to compete in an 18-hole golf tournament at TPC Tampa Bay followed by a No Limit Texas Hold'em poker tournament at Tampa Bay Downs in the Silks Poker Room. Confirmed celebrities include Ozzie Smith, Clyde Drexler, Joe Carter, Lawrence Taylor, Ed Moses and Alfonso Ribeiro. Unlike most other Super Bowl events, Par and Poker is free to attend and open to the general public. The Foundation encourages the host city locals to spectate or volunteer.
