Bangladesh Voter Registration Project Now Using MegaMatcher Biometric Technology to Detect and Prevent Duplicate Registrations
VILNIUS, Lithuania, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Neurotechnology(http://www.neurotechnology.com), a provider of biometric identificationtechnologies, today announced that the Bangladesh Army selected MegaMatcherSDK multi-biometric technology to identify duplicate registrations in thenation's voter database. The Bangladesh Voter Registration Project registeredmore than 80 million citizens using biometric face and fingerprint technology. After evaluating a number of biometric technologies for their duplicate searchsystem, the Bangladesh Army determined that MegaMatcher from Neurotechnologywas able to identify more duplicate registrations with a higher degree ofaccuracy than any other system tested. System integrator Dohatec New Mediawas hired to help design and implement the MegaMatcher-based system. To date, more than 48 million voter registration records have been matched.
"Bangladesh is a country with a large population, so the task of searchingfor duplicates is complicated and requires a large number of matchingoperations and significant reliability," said Dr. Algimantas Malickas, CEO ofNeurotechnology. "I'm glad that the Bangladesh Army and system integratorDohatec, in their implemented system, successfully explored MegaMatcherfunctionality for the solution to this problem."
The Dohatec Biometrics Fusion Server(C) system uses MegaMatcher Client togenerate templates from face and fingerprint images that were captured with aBIO-Key(R) system, then MegaMatcher Server and MegaMatcher Cluster Server areused to search the database and identify duplicate records. Bangladesh runsMegaMatcher on Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Server withMicrosoft SQL Server as the back end database.
MegaMatcher provides the high speed and reliability required for thedevelopment of national-scale automated fingerprint identification systems(AFIS) and multi-biometric face/fingerprint identification systems. Suitablefor both civil and forensic use, MegaMatcher includes both fingerprint andface identification engines with a fusion algorithm that allows the twotechnologies to work together to provide very fast 1:N (1 to many) matchingwith even higher reliability than AFIS or facial recognition alone.
The MegaMatcher fingerprint recognition algorithm has received full NISTMINEX certification for use in the US Government Personal IdentityVerification program fingerprint recognition applications. MegaMatchersupports BioAPI 2.0 and most other biometric industry standards and can beused in conjunction with other Neurotechnology products, including VeriFinger,VeriLook and the FaceCell and FingerCell embedded development kits. Allcomponents of MegaMatcher can be used on both Microsoft Windows and Linuxoperating systems.
MegaMatcher 2.1 SDK is available with highly competitive licensing optionsthrough Neurotechnology or from distributors worldwide. A 30-day trial versionwith full functionality is also available for download. For more information,go to: http://www.Neurotechnology.com.
