Some things about the 9450B have not changed. The system still provides1280 lumens of white Luxeon light over a 90-degree beam spread and includes adiffuser; the rechargeable, sealed lead-acid battery still powers nine hoursof maximum-output light and a total lighting time of 17 hours; the light's 16one-watt LED lights are still mounted in an aluminum heat sink; and the 9450Bstill features the quality construction clients have come to expect fromPelican products.

But Pelican has taken those basics and enhanced the 9450B. The lightingsystem now comes in the watertight, crush-proof, dust-proof,chemical-resistant and corrosion-proof Pelican 1510 case, complies with the EURestriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) environmental directive andfeatures closed-lid charging with a new power panel. The 83-inch aluminumextension pole now stores inside the RALS case, and the unit includes a user'sguide and reference card. But perhaps the biggest change between the 9450 andthe 9450B is weight: the 9450B is a full 10 pounds lighter than itspredecessor.
