More than 1,100 technology companies from outside the United States will join some 1,600 innovative U.S. companies in showcasing their latest consumer electronics (CE) products at the 2009 International CES® - the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow. These exhibiting companies represent more than 30 consumer technology categories.

The 2009 International CES runs January 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will attract more than 25,000 international attendees from 140 countries. In total, 2,700 exhibitors, including more than 300 companies exhibiting for the first time, are expected to unveil their latest CE products on more than 1.7 million net square feet of exhibit space.

"CES is uniquely rich amongst worldwide events in offering the broadest range of international and US visitors access to all levels of the CE ecosystem from technology originators to OEMs, developers, content owners and retailers," said Tony King-Smith, VP of marketing for UK based Imagination Technologies. "There are few shows where we can put the latest, hot-from-the-labs, IP cores and consumer products from our PURE Digital division side-by-side and know there will be an equally valid audience for both. CES is a must-attend for the industry and kick-starts each new year."

CES will host a multitude of CE Spotlights on the show floor this year, most notably: Content@CES, a must-attend hub for the content community, featuring companies that create, deliver and distribute content in one central location; Digital Imaging Showcase is set to house more than 30 companies in 7,000 square feet of exhibit space as they provide solutions to digital imaging and CE retailers; Gaming Showcase will feature gaming hardware, software and casual gaming with the entire range of CE; and Kids@Play will provide the opportunity to meet with retailers, content providers, distributors, game developers and hardware manufacturers who drive the world that digital kids inhabit.

"This show has always been important for us because of all the international visitors it attracts, and the unique opportunity it provides us to connect with so many of the press," said Jack Shafton, director, sales and marketing for Toronto-based Paradigm Electronics. "This year CES will be especially important for our brands as we are launching exciting updates to two of the Paradigm Reference speaker lines as well as updates to the Anthem A/V processor lineup."

Other CES showfloor must-see attractions include: Location Based Services for providers of custom technologies that deliver highly personalized mobile services based on location; Sustainable Planet displays products and services making it possible for every person on this planet to stay connected, informed and live sustainable lifestyles; Silvers Summit will showcase products and services that keep boomers engaged, entertained, connected and healthy; and Wireless World that is set to feature prominent industry leaders with the latest in handsets and accessories.

"CES is the must attend show for any company in the consumer electronics industry. Year after year, having a booth at CES enables us to generate very fruitful business opportunities," said Radomir Jovanovic, president and CEO of SPiDCOM Technologies, a French fabless manufacturer of PLC and EoC semiconductors. "This year, we are announcing our new HomePlug AV chip. This launch will be a milestone in the PLC industry, as HomePlug is the sole alliance with multisource chip providers."

The 2009 International CES will host more than 15 market-specific TechZones. A portion of these TechZones will be housed at the Sands Expo and Convention Center/Venetian which is also home to the award-winning Innovations Showcase. These TechZones will highlight the latest in Advanced Display, Digital Health, Greener Gadgets, Robotics, Accessibilities, Technology in Emerging Countries and much more.

In addition, the amazing lineup of CES conference programs kicks off on Wednesday January 7, 2009. It features more than 200 conference sessions with 500 speakers across a wide variety of topics, including; digital imaging, emerging technology, home entertainment & lifestyle technologies, in-vehicle, wireless and green technology.

"CES brings out the most advanced consumer electronics technologies and offers attendees a preview of the newest multimedia experiences," said Martin Rofheart, senior vice president and GM, analog & mixed-signal products, Gennum Corporation, a Toronto-based company. "This year, we will highlight our ability to connect full rate HDMI 1.3 and DisplayPort at distances up to 330 feet-over standard cable. With the ability to connect the latest Blu-ray, flat screens, PCs and digital recording devices, our solution ensures consumers can place their home theater/multimedia components anywhere they want with unparalleled viewing experience."
