Bryan Pugh joins Walgreens as vice president of format development, focusing on affordable and essential merchandise, including basic staples such as food items, paper products and other consumables.

Colin F. Watts joins Walgreens as a vice president and president of Walgreens Health and Wellness disease management. Watts will be responsible for developing the business model, strategy and capabilities necessary for Walgreens to address the growth opportunity in prevention and population health management for patients across all of Walgreens platforms, including its drugstores, retail health clinics, worksite health centers, pharmacy benefit management services and specialty and home care facilities.

Jeffrey J. Zavada joins Walgreens as a vice president and chief sales officer with responsibility for selling health care services to managed care organizations and other payors.

About Bryan Pugh

Pugh, who was most recently with Tesco USA's Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets, brings more than 25 years of experience in food and general merchandise retail, including store and regional operations, buying and merchandise planning, distribution and supply chain, store design and construction and mergers and acquisitions.

Over the last three years with Tesco USA, Pugh designed the Fresh & Easy store operations model and launched the retail grocery store chain on the West Coast, which grew to 90 locations in less than a year. Previously, he launched three new retail formats in Thailand for Tesco Thailand.

Prior to his Tesco experience, Pugh spent six years with CP Group of Asia, opening hypermarkets in China and Thailand and having responsibility for all purchasing. From 1985 to 1993, he worked for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., moving up from an assistant store manager in the Sam's Club division to vice president of membership marketing.

Pugh was a marketing major at Arkansas State University.

About Colin Watts

As a senior executive in the health care industry for more than 10 years and consumer packaged goods for over 20 years, Watts has a proven track record of growing consumer and health care companies in the U.S. and globally.

Most recently, Watts was vice president and general manager at Campbell Soup Company, where he was responsible for the core U.S. Soup franchise, the largest business unit at the company. From 2005 to 2007, he was president of McNeil Consumer Healthcare Worldwide, a $2 billion division of Johnson & Johnson where he played a leadership role in the acquisition of the Pfizer Consumer Healthcare business.

Watts also served as worldwide president of J&J's McNeil Nutritionals operating company, where he successfully launched the Splenda brand of no-calorie sweetener, rebuilt the company's research and development capabilities and established a new nutritional health care platform in obesity and diabetes.

His previous background includes more than 10 years in marketing various consumer and health care brands. Watts graduated in 1986 from Brown University with a bachelor of arts degree in history. He also earned a master's degree in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's of business administration degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, both in 1991.

About Jeffrey Zavada

Zavada is a proven sales leader who has managed entire sales organizations and has worked in managed care for more than 15 years.

Zavada comes to Walgreens from UnitedHealthcare Group, Inc., where he was national vice president of key accounts. He managed his business unit's financial performance, distribution, product development, compensation and sales training.

Prior to his leadership positions with UnitedHealth, Zavada worked from 2000 to 2003 as national vice president of sales for ppoNEXT, one of the largest and fastest-growing preferred provider organizations (PPO) in the country. He also worked in sales for PacifiCare Health Systems, LLC, from 1992-2000.

Zavada graduated in 1994 from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay with a bachelor of science degree in business management and political science.
