LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwire) -- 01/07/09 -- This past weekend BPONG.COM(TM) and the WorldSeries of Beer Pong(TM) welcomed over 400 competitive Beer Pong teams fromthe United States and Canada to the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, where theyproudly presented The World Series of Beer Pong IV.
After 2,675 games, Ron Hamilton and Michael Popielarski from New York's"Smashing Time" came out on top, dominating the competition to win thegrand prize of $50,000. "Smashing Time was definitely one of the mostcompetitive and experienced teams competing in this tournament," said,Billy Gaines, co-founder of The World Series of Beer Pong. "Smashing Timeis a household name in the sport of Beer Pong, having been featured on ESPNand Time magazine."
The World Series of Beer Pong IV was held, January 1-5, 2009 at theFlamingo Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Smashing Time ended theirtournament series with an 18-3 record. The final game kicked off withveteran UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer announcing the final two teams;"Getcha Popcorn Ready" versus Smashing Time who took the victory in thesecond game of the match making them the undisputed world champions andsending them home with the grand prize, $50,000. Other celebrities inattendance at the event were co-hosts Starr Spangler and Dallas Imbimbo of"The Amazing Race."
