Duke University Deploys Federal Signal Campus Safety and Security System

Aaron Graves, associate vice president for campus safety and security atDuke, said, the University was looking for a reliable system to help protectits growing campus community with an undergraduate and graduate studentenrollment of nearly 14,000 and 33,000 faculty and staff. The Federal Signal campus safety and security solution includes anelectronic Federal Signal digital siren network that can produce tone-alertsand voice announcements heard throughout the campus community. The sirennetwork is controlled by an integrated Federal Signal siren encoder thatenables secure and reliable siren activation by campus safety officials.
The siren can plug into Federal Signal's Codespear-enabled industryplatform to enable simultaneous activation of sirens and alerting to cellphones, landline phones, radios, PDA's, pagers, e-mail addresses and otherindoor warning devices. This unique safety and security platform providesdistributed instant messaging and scenario management architecture thatfeatures instant scalability, redundancy and automated fail-over features.
