London, United Kingdom (IBwire.com - October 23, 2009) An independent search by student Ed Fry into defining a list of the best search engines and the accuracy of search engines results pages has exposed the poor quality and relevancy of results, particularly by Microsoft’s newest search engine Bing.
The test which involved typing ‘search engine’ into Google, Yahoo and Bing to determine the mean favourites and relevancy of results showed up only a 30% accuracy rating for the Microsoft engine who only identified three search engines in it’s top 10 listing.
Yahoo, whilst more accurate with a 60% accuracy, admitted it wasn’t the most suitable and instead voted Search.com as the favoured search engine on the net. The company recently entered a 10 year collaborative deal with Microsoft during July.
Google fared well with accuracy scoring 9 out of 10 search engines in its results page, but wasn’t especially picked out by the other search engines for its specific relevancy, despite there dominant status in the search industry.
The list of best search engines according to themselves can be found at www.how-to-build-a-website.co.uk/updates
Google, Yahoo and Microsoft declined to comment on the findings.
