During the last 60 days, his policy of hiring locally has helped transition nine Reno residents from the ranks of the unemployed.

"Online Tech Stores is an umbrella corporation for current and future online operations," Willmes says. "Right now, our flagship operation is BatteryEdge.com, which sells replacement batteries for laptops made by Dell, Sony, HP, Apple, Acer, Toshiba, and others, for up to 70% less than what the manufacturers charge.
"We have other stores already online," Willmes continues, "and we plan to open more stores later this year and the next. Each will sell a different product and each will have its own website; but they'll all be under Online Tech Stores, Inc."
Locals are good workers
BatteryEdge.com employs a full-time staff of nine—all Reno residents—and has just hired two full-time sales people and a part-time CSR. Willmes says prefers locals because of their work ethics and skill-sets.

"Even though orders come in from all over the world, Reno is where our headquarters is located and will continue to be located." Online Tech Stores occupies a warehouse and suite of offices in the southeast Longley Business area. Currently only 75% of the offices are occupied, allowing room for planned expansion.
"As we continue to open the other online stores," Willmes says, "we'll need more employees, and we had to plan for that. They'll be local, too," he adds. "Reno has some of the most motivated and skilled personnel in the country."

ItsBatteryEdge.com division, was launched in March that same year, and sells compatible laptop batteries for Dell, HP, Apple, IBM, Compaq, Sony, Toshiba, and other popular laptop computer models, as well as AC adapters and chargers for most through its website.
