After graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Mr. Ker entered the human resources field in Canada and worked for a number of organizations eventually holding senior HR positions. A number of years ago he started his human resources management consulting firm (R.G. Ker & Associates) as well as started up the Human Resources Consulting Division of EPR Kielstra & Company Chartered Accountants, a full service public accounting firm with affiliations across Canada and internationally. The accounting firm is made up of accessible, informed strategic thinkers who provide business and accounting solutions for the growth and success of their client's businesses. Among the selection of the services they offer are full service public accounting, Canadian and USA tax returns, estate and succession planning and of course full human resources andworker's compensation representation.
Mr. Ker is a human resources generalist with a specialty in labour relations (dealing with unionized companies and collective bargaining) and worker's compensation matters. He is responsible for managing difficult employee problems such as absenteeism, discipline and terminations. He prepares employment contracts, designs benefit plans and policies and procedures, performs selective recruiting and assist clients with their employment law obligations and occupational health and safety issues.
Mr. Ker is a member of a number of professional organizations. He has presented position papers to the Province of Ontario government, the Ministry of Labour and to the senior management of Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB). In his spare time, Mr. Ker is an avid hockey and football fan and enjoys hunting, fishing and golfing.
