This survey was created for the primary purpose of grasping where internet retailers would focus their online marketing efforts in 2012. Search engine optimization remains the key focus for internet retailers when it comes to internet marketing.

When asked what the primary focus would be for internet retailers in 2012, more than half, 56%, responded search engine optimization. 15% responded social media as well as another 15% with pay-per-click marketing.
When asked about where the majority of their budget would be for 2012 for online marketing, 26% responded it would be allocated to search engine optimization with pay-per-click marketing in a close second with 22% of respondents.
