RTTNews - Stocks moved lower at the start of trading on Tuesday, with the major averages giving back some ground after staging a substantial rally in the previous session. Profit taking contributed to the initial downward move, with traders cashing in on yesterday's gains.

Banking stocks are helping to lead the way lower, while weakness is also visible among natural gas, health insurance, and networking stocks. On the other hand, airline and electronic storage stocks are seeing some early strength.

In the past few minutes, the major averages have edged up off their lows for the young session, although they remain stuck in the red. The Dow is currently down 16.49 at 8,704.95, the Nasdaq is down 10.29 at 1,818.39 and the S&P 500 is down 3.59 at 939.28.
